RoDaCutta – It’s a given, and it’s not because of what she does for a living… It’s more because of what she does and how she’s living…
RoDaCutta hails from the energetic streets of Houston, TX. Ro is not your average master barber. She has an extreme love for family and takes pride in building strong long-lasting relationships with each individual client. Ro is currently the owner of Trimmers Barber Salon located in the heart of Houston’s Medical Center.
Ro discovered her love for the craft at the age of 19. While visiting a friend who lived in row houses in the inner city, she noticed the need for the young boys who lived throughout to have haircuts. Ro began cutting their hair just for fun in an effort to do something kind for people she saw in need. After walking the streets of Third Ward, Texas to the TSU campus everyday to pursue her degree… hungry for food and a career, Ro decided to take a chance on perfecting her craft. She continued to practice on those less fortunate and unable to afford a haircut and added a few family members and friends to her clientele as well. As Ro worked her way through barber college she already had the mentality of a true entrepreneur. She turned down an offer to join the police force to work at her craft full time. In August of 1995 Ro began working in a local shop in Houston as the only female barber. The clients who frequented the barber shop often neglected to give Ro a chance at cutting their hair because they chose not to believe in a female barber. She was determined to change that and put in the work needed to prove herself as a skilled barber. It wasn’t long before the clients who shunned her in her early days were waiting for hours to get a signature cut by RoDaCutta. Within three years Ro had established a clientele that drove her to open her own barbershop. Trimmers Barber Salon emerged.
Ro has acquired a loyal client base over the years and takes pride in the fact that she has watched many of her clients grow up over the years and they now bring their children in to experience the attention to detail and skills she has developed during her years in the business. Due to her expertise, Ro has been privileged to showcase her work on the sets of video shoots, in magazines and has done work for celebrity clients from musicians to professional athletes.
Ro is dedicated to making certain she remains true to one of the reasons she embarked on this career and continues to give back to the community by giving free haircuts to the less fortunate and donating back to school materials. She also reaches out to local shelters and offers free haircuts to the residents. Ro is excited about the upcoming school year and looks forward to starting an annual backpack drive for children in need.
RoDaCutta continues to familiarize herself with the current trends and products to stay ahead of this ever growing expanding industry. Proof of this can be seen in the recent renovations made to Trimmers Salon to make certain clients are comfortable and have a top notch experience. Ro has implemented an online booking system to assist in making certain clients have a favorable experience but is known to attempt to fit in clients who call on a whim as well.
RoDaCutta, also a Premium Mixologist may also be seen bartending events throughout the city to satisfy her love for mixing premium cocktails.
